A ticket to ride’em, cowboy
You might think you’re tough — but are you rodeo tough? That takes a lot of gumption, as proven by these photos from this year’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center, which continues through Dec. 15. The challenges for the rough-and-tumble competitors are many and daunting. Among them: barrel racing, team roping, bull riding and bareback riding, with competitors trying to earn the coveted Gold Buckle.
Numerous social, charitable, athletic and autograph events are also part of the festivities, plus just flat-out fun activities for rodeo-goers such as concerts and the ever-popular Cowboy Christmas gift show at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
With 10 days of cowboy action that began Dec. 6, the NFR draws an estimated 40,000 visitors to town, adding around $113 million to the economy of Las Vegas.
