No one in the ‘80s heyday of jocks-vs.-geeks war footing would have seen it coming, but the Great Pop-Cultural Revolution swept through the land, and the winners were in their glory at the LVL Up Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center Feb. 21-23, 2020.

WATCH: Boring machine breakthrough

The Las Vegas Convention Center, which is tunneling into history with the creation of an underground transportation system, is celebrating a milestone. This week, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announced that the excavation of the first of two vehicular one-way tunnels has been completed for TBC —The Boring Company d/b/a Vegas Loop’s underground system.

After tunneling 40 feet underground for nearly a mile over three months, the boring machine penetrated the concrete wall near the 1.4-million-square-foot West Hall convention center expansion, now under construction as part of a $1.52 billion renovation of the entire LVCC campus.
