Cirque gears up for annual Walk for Water
Cirque du Soleil’s One Drop foundation will host its seventh annual “Walk for Water” event on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Las Vegas Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd.
The two-mile jaunt, complemented by programming at Springs Preserve and an appearance by Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, is designed to honor “millions of women and children who walk to get water daily,” as explained in a statement from the company. “Participants can carry buckets filled with water during their walk to simulate the challenging and, at times, dangerous job these people face.”
This year, One Drop — which was created by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte — is celebrating a decade of bringing access to safe water to people around the globe. One Drop projects in 13 countries are estimated to reach more than 1.3 million people.
