The things they carried
In addition to photographic negatives, prints and films dating back to our origins in 1947, the News Bureau archive also holds a wide selection of the cameras and accessories used by our photographers in their daily work. Many of these items were the workhorses of their day, and carried by pros everywhere. Some were rare or niche items, used for special techniques or in situations that not all photographers encountered in daily work. We’ll take a look at these pieces in this space, and on occasion will highlight a piece to describe in-depth or show some of the photos made with that camera or lens. Equipment junkies unite! If you’d like to share your experience or a reminiscence about a particular camera or item that you see here, drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
