Creativity in motion
Ever seen artistry in action? You can at Bellagio, where acclaimed Japanese artist Kisho Mwkaiyama is working on a new commissioned piece, titled “Vendara 100: Six Elements and the Seasons,” through January. Drop in to watch him at the studio space adjacent to the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, and hang out at its viewing lounge, for a fascinating lesson in creativity.
Heavily influenced by Buddhist art, Mwkaiyama’s work concentrates on the presence of light, such as “Lunar,” his series of works on canvas that capture the fleeting nature of natural light. Describing his art, Mwkaiyama has stated that “the abstract light of the soul is an invisible material that breathes together with life while kaleidoscopically repeating its radiance. … My works convey the prayer that dwells within the soul enveloped by the body.”
