Hard to say a Rock’n’ goodbye
With one final toast from President/CEO Richard “Boz” Bosworth, the Hard Rock hotel-casino took its final bow on Feb. 1 as it transitions into its new identity as the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Bosworth was joined in the toast by sportscaster JT “The Brick” and Vegas Golden Knights announcer Mark Shunock for the final tribute to the off-Strip property.
Over 25 years, the Hard Rock triumphed as one of Las Vegas’ hippest hangouts, featuring a treasure trove of rock memorabilia everywhere you looked, and became the scene of some of the city’s iconic musical performances by the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Kiss and Guns N’ Roses. For its final weekend that began on Jan. 30, guests enjoyed live music at the Center Bar, Peacock Lounge and outdoor Fu Asian Kitchen, and had the chance to win iconic pieces of memorabilia, including signed guitars, gold records and collectors’ posters.
The Hard Rock rocked its last notes when the property shut down at 3 a.m. on Feb. 3, and is expected to reopen as the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas in November.
