Las Vegas Aviators naming ceremony

You know they expect this team to fly high — that’s why the new name for our Triple-A baseball team is now The Las Vegas Aviators. Formerly the Las Vegas 51s (and before that, the Las Vegas Stars), the team announced its new name and unveiled its dashing new logo at a ceremony on Dec. 8. The team, which is now affiliated with Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics  has been rebranded with a name that pays homage to Howard Hughes, the namesake of the team’s owner, The Howard Hughes Corp., and reflects Hughes’ legacy as an aviation pioneer. Starting with the upcoming 2019 season, The Las Vegas Aviators will play at their new home: Las Vegas Ballpark, which is under construction in downtown Summerlin.
