Local celebs raise money for animals in need
As part of its third annual “Tunnel Jam” competition to benefit the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) on Oct. 19, Vegas Indoor Skydiving (200 Convention Center Drive) is holding a “Tunnel Jam Celebrity Challenge.” Among those scheduled to participate are comedian Carrot Top, Vegas Golden Knights announcer Mark Shunock, Five Finger Death Punch bassist Chris Kael, singer Melody Sweets and BMX pro/reality TV star Ricardo Laguna.
Invited to “fetch money” for animals in need, the celebrities will be challenged by throwing a ball through a custom-made hoop suspended above the facility’s 22-foot-tall wind tunnel. Each celebrity will be given five chances, and for every “swish” through the hoop, Vegas Indoor Skydiving and local hiking company Love Hikes will donate $100 to the NSPCA.
Various other festivities will begin at 2 p.m., with the challenge at 3 p.m. “Tunnel Jam” is free and open to guests of all ages. To receive a ticket for a raffle, guests are asked to donate a pet item at the door, such as wet dog food, blankets and dog toys, which will all go to the NSPCA’s efforts to provide medical care, rehabilitation and adoption services for the thousands of animals they care for each year.
