Raiders, Golden Knights aid local schools
Our new major league sports teams, the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights are coming to the aid of Clark County schoolchildren.
The Raiders have adopted a Communities in Schools (CIS) of Southern Nevada resource room at Robert Taylor Elementary School in Henderson, where students can find resources ranging from “notebooks and pens to alarm clocks and socks.” In addition, the Raiders are donating $35,000 to CIS to fund four more resource rooms “to empower success for all students by removing barriers for at-risk youth at the schools they serve.”
And the Golden Knights are collaborating with the Staples office supply chain and the Clark County School District for the “Supplies, Score, Skate” drive for local students. Golden Knights fans can donate new school supplies marked with the name of the drive at Staples locations in Clark County. Once they donate, fans will receive a buy-one-get-one-free voucher redeemable for an open skate at City National Arena.
