Tourism/traveler safety and security focus of convention
Safety — for tourists and travelers — is supreme.
That’s the message that was emphasized at the just-concluded International Tourism Safety Conference (April 29 through May 1) at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The conference, in its 26th year, was co-hosted by the International Tourism Safety Association (ITSA), the Las Vegas Security Chiefs Association, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA, which operates the convention center and produces Las Vegas Newswire).
During the conference, safety and security officials in the travel and tourism industries shared information on the newest security trends, equipment and strategies for keeping visitors safe, with 200-plus attendees from around the globe.
Among the tourism-centered security topics addressed were: securing the southern U.S. border; crisis and disaster management; urban air mobility trends; travel risk planning; financial fraud in terrorism funding; water security; and corporate social responsibility in the travel-tourism industry.
